Cognizant recently hosted five interns through the Women in Technology and Entrepreneurship in New York (WiTNY) Winterns program in its Teaneck, New Jersey office.
Launched in collaboration with Cornell Tech, the City University of New York and industry partners, the intent of the program is to increase the number of women entering technology-related jobs in the New York area.
Through the three-week program, the Winterns were given an immersive experience that focused on understanding Cognizant’s overall business with a concentration on the Healthcare vertical, the Agile software development process, as well as professional development training. The group was also tasked with redesigning a page of a commercially available healthcare product with an eye toward improving the end-user experience. Their final solution was pitched to Cognizant leadership on the last day of the program.
“We are thrilled to have hosted the WiTNY Winterns at our office,” said Diana Sonbay-Benli, Vice President, Government Solutions Product Management. “It’s always encouraging to see bright young women who are interested in the field of technology. There is so much opportunity available in tech and that opportunity will undoubtedly continue to grow in the future. We look forward to participating in the program again.”
