Consulting Magazine: Cognizant’s Assistant Vice President, Communications Consulting, Shameka Young Honored with Excellence in Client Services Award by Consulting Magazine

ALM’s Consulting magazine has honored Shameka Young with an award for Excellence in Client Services. One of eight selected out of 400 nominations from top-tier consulting firms, the award was presented to Young at the Women Leaders in Consulting Gala Awards Dinner on November 17, 2016.

Every year, the U.S.-based magazine conducts research into the role and accomplishments of women in the industry. Following a detailed evaluation process, the magazine unveils the winners of its ‘Women Leaders in Consulting’ competition, recognizing the profound difference they make for their clients and their firms.

Young was named among this year’s most influential women in management consulting. “Cognizant colleagues say, without fail, that Young is passionate about driving value creation with clients. While Young shines across the range of capabilities needed for consulting, colleagues say it’s her knack as a relationship builder and client adviser that sets her apart in the profession,” the magazine writes.

When asked what she enjoys most about the work she does, Young says, “Teamwork and innovation; specifically, my enjoyment centers on working with clients and our team to solve new business problems and I’m often heard saying ‘what if we tried this?’ Exploring the ‘Art of the Possible’ for clients is critical and team collaboration regarding the ‘what ifs’ motivates me daily.”

“Shameka joined Cognizant in 2012 in our Telecommunications and High Tech practice where she focuses on driving financial and operational profitability for global clients,” says Mark Livingston Executive Vice President, Cognizant Business Consulting, Cognizant. “At Cognizant, we believe that strategy without technology is akin to no strategy at all and Shameka embodies this ethos. With numerous accomplishments during her years in the business, Shameka has been a strong advocate for women in leadership. A regional advisor for Cognizant’s Women Empowered group, she was the 2015 recipient of our Cognizant CEO client service excellence award. She’s a remarkable consultant and we’re proud of her being named among the Women Leaders of consulting for 2016.”

Commenting on the Award, Young says, “Consulting Magazine continues to recognize the impact of women leaders in the profession and it’s gratifying to be recognized for years of perseverance and dedication to the profession. I’m blessed to have worked for, and with, some amazing women and it is a privilege to be recognized as a member of this class of leaders.”

“Now in our tenth year, Consulting magazine is honored to shine the spotlight on the extraordinary accomplishments of these leading women of consulting and the firms they represent,” says Joe Kornik, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Consulting magazine. “The collective impact female leaders in the profession have on the industry is immense and continues to grow. As with past winners, the ladies honored by the magazine are well accomplished and are testament to the leadership and talent found within the industry.”
