Cognizant Releases 2024 Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship Report

June 2, 2025 — Cognizant released its 2024 Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship Report today. The report details Cognizant’s progress across the pillars of people and communities, and corporate governance.

As the industry enters the next wave of technological change, the AI era, Cognizant remains committed to serving as a leader in developing and deploying AI responsibly - advancing both business and society while managing risk. Last year, Cognizant launched its Advanced AI Lab, staffed by world-class computer scientists dedicated to advancing responsible AI frameworks and solutions, helping clients build trust and accountability in their AI implementations. Cognizant was also the first in its industry to receive the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 accreditation for responsible AI management, reinforcing its leadership in ethical AI deployment.

To address workforce disruptions caused by the rapid advancements of AI, Cognizant designed Synapse to equip one million people with digital and technology skills by the end of 2026. More than 400,000 people have participated in the program to date, creating new pathways to employment in the digital and coming AI economy. Everyone in Cognizant plays an important role in making an impact. Associates take learning and development courses and volunteer to teach students STEM, while the talent division leads jobseeker training, and philanthropic support helps skilling and education programs that align with Synapse's goals.

In 2024, Cognizant awarded $15 million in grants and gifts to more than 130 organizations around the world to improve economic mobility and community resilience through strategic programmatic giving, local community support, and disaster relief. The Cognizant Foundation India supported projects focused on healthcare, education, and skilling, benefiting hundreds of thousands of individuals.

Last year, more than 47,000 associates volunteered over 220,000 hours through Cognizant’s global volunteering program. During Cognizant’s global impact month, more than 11,700 associates in India volunteered over 26,900 hours, participating in activities such as a coding hackathon, mentoring, career guidance, STEM education, blood donation and disability support.

“Cognizant’s focus on sustainability and corporate citizenship reinforces our efforts to accelerate growth, amplify talent and scale innovation, which together fuels our ability to continue serving clients with excellence, while improving the communities where our associates live and work,” said John Kim, Chief Legal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer, Cognizant. “We appreciate our associates’ continued commitment to shaping a better future by ‘Doing the Right Thing,’ through responsible innovation, global talent development, sustainable business practices and volunteerism.”
