Cognizant's Growing European Presence Featured in India's Outlook Business

An article in the July 12 edition of India’s Outlook Business probes the growing demand for IT and Business Process Outsourcing services in Europe. The article, “A Continent Arrives”, discusses the drivers for overall European market growth and highlights the strategies of leading players, including Cognizant.

The article delves into the immediate benefits Cognizant’s 5-year global services strategic partnership with Germany’s T-Systems is delivering to both parties. T-Systems’ CEO Richard Clemens is quoted as saying that the partners have already signed three contracts as a result of their partnership -- one in the US, one in UK and one in Argentina. “Right now, we have a pipeline for joint deals worth a three-digit million Euro volume,” he added.

Moreover, at least one Europe’s largest IT services providers acknowledged in the article the influence Cognizant is now wielding across the continent. Capgemini CEO Paul Hermelin was quoted as saying: “Cognizant is coming on strongly in Europe, and we meet them a lot.” Hermelin pointed to one large deal in particular where Cognizant allied with a local European services player andemerged victorious.“Last year, we lost a big deal with a Dutch Bank (Rabobank). Cognizant was partnering with a Dutch company, Ordina, and we lost to this consortium. This was a very large one.”
