The Street: Cognizant’s Chief Financial Officer Says SMAC is About a Different Relationship with Clients

“We believe we have a strong pipeline and will continue to drive industry-leading revenue growth this year,” says Karen McLoughlin. “In a recession, we see clients looking to optimize spend to drive efficiency and effectiveness. When the economy picks up, you will see more discretionary spending.”

McLoughlin adds, “We are actually starting to see a lot of traction and SMAC [social, mobile, analytics and cloud technologies] stack is growing much faster than we anticipated. The interesting thing is it’s about a really different relationship with clients. You are really transforming their business and also, in many cases, working with the Chief Marketing Officer and the business people, which expands the range of services and our relationship with our customers.”
