The Street: Cognizant’s Chief Financial Officer Talks About Cognizant’s Industry-Leading Performance in the June-Ended Quarter of 2013

“The second quarter of 2013 was a terrific quarter for us,” says Karen McLoughlin. “We’re very pleased with the way company performed. We are very pleased with the way the demand environment has played out for us and the revenue is growing.”

Elaborating on Cognizant’s “run better, run different” theme, McLoughlin said, “It is about helping our customers run better and drive effectiveness and efficiencies into their business, about freeing up investment dollars so that they can transform their businesses, and run differently to take advantage of future opportunities. The way we bring that to our clients is with a combination of those solutions: Horizon 1, which is our core IT services business; Horizon 2, which comprises consulting, BPO and infrastructure services, and ultimately Horizon 3 or our emerging business offerings. And end-to-end solutions are what customers are looking for in this environment.”

McLoughlin says that revenue grew nicely across all of Cognizant’s industry segments as well as geographic segments. “All of our geographies performed well, particularly, Europe and the Continent. We are really starting to see good traction in the Continent with clients looking to adopt more of the global delivery model and looking to Cognizant to help them. In the last several quarters, large European companies are looking to adopt the global delivery model and drive transformation into their business, and that’s where we are seeing growth now.”
