The Times of India: Cognizant Chairman Says the Company Competes with Itself

“I heard people say recently that offshoring is coming to a point where it may be tapering off. We don’t see that,” says John E. Klein. “We see tremendous demand, maybe it’s the kind of clients we have or maybe it’s what we do for our clients: we have broadened our portfolio of offerings. But we see great opportunity.”

Klein adds, “We don’t track competition at a board level. We compete with ourselves. Our measure is how well are we supporting our customers, how well are we growing, what is the value of our offerings, what’s the return we are getting and how are we helping our customers…At a board level, our emphasis is on people and our DNA, which is a customer-centric approach and spending a lot of time on strategy.”
