The Business Times, Singapore: Cognizant’s APAC Head Talks About the Books That Have Most Inspired Him as a Business Leader

“To me, reading is a form of meditation, rich with insight and inspiration,” says Jayajyoti Sengupta, as he recalls some of the books that have most inspired him as a business leader.  “Among the many books that have had an influence on me is ‘Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln’ (Doris Goodwin), which has helped me communicate via story-telling, manage conflicting personalities at work, and stay focused on my goal.”

“Another one is ‘Ashoka the Great’ (Wytze Keuning)," he adds, "which chronicles the transformation of a prince into a warrior and eventually into one of history’s most influential teachers." 

"In addition to the defining forces of Ashoka’s times such as cross-border trade, currency, scriptures and evangelization, it also offers an enlightening peek into the cardinal principles of governance,” he says.
