NDTV Profit: Cognizant’s President Says the Company is Well-Positioned to Help Clients ‘Run Better’ and ‘Run Different’ Simultaneously

“Today, we increased our full year revenue guidance to 20.3%. That’s important,” says Gordon Coburn after Cognizant announcing yet another quarter of industry-leading growth. “That’s actually a higher growth rate than we had last year, even though we are a bigger company.”

“We are seeing our clients face a dual mandate,” he adds. “Simultaneously, they have to become more efficient in their operations, reduce costs for the running of their businesses. They are taking those dollars that they’re freeing up and investing them in innovation and growing their top line.”

He says that clients looking for a partner to help them figure out how do they gain competitive advantage and differentiate themselves in the market through innovation are coming to Cognizant because of its strength in consulting and deep industry knowledge.

“We’ve seen strong demand not just in our traditional how-to-run-better application development and management type of work, but also in helping clients to innovate and grow their businesses,” he says. “Only few companies are positioned to be able to serve their clients on this dual mandate of ‘running better’ and ‘running different’ at the same time.”

Commenting on Cognizant’s “extraordinarily rigorous” visa process, Coburn says, “We are very proud of what we do in terms of immigration. One of the interesting statistics a lot of people don’t realize is that in the last five years, Cognizant has been number 1 or 2 every year in terms of the number of green card applications. That means we are number 1 or number 2 among all companies in the U.S. in terms of bringing the best and the brightest from around the world to become permanent residents of the U.S. and contribute to the American economy. We care deeply about the immigration process.”
