Fortune.com: Cognizant CEO Discusses Digital Disruption and its Impact on Clients Across Industries

“Everybody wants to become a digital business,” Francisco D’Souza tells Fortune’s Senior Special Correspondent Susie Gharib in a “From the Corner Office” interview. “Everyone wants to understand how to be more digital for their customers, how to be more digital for their employees, and we are helping our clients deploy digital technologies across the board and that’s really driving a lot of our growth.” Excerpts:
“We feel good about the rest of the year. When we reported our first quarter 2015 results, we talked about strong continued growth for the rest of the year and we really think that the new wave of digital technologies is going to be a key enabler and a key driver of this growth.
I am seeing tech spending across the board. There is greater enthusiasm, greater awareness, and greater willingness to spend and to deploy technology more broadly for competitive advantage. We see a new technology cycle, a technology refresh cycle. Technology spending in general is up.
The two biggest industries that we serve are financial services and healthcare. We see tremendous digital disruption going on in both of those industries. In financial services, there are themes like the digital bank. Consumers are increasingly interested in conducting their banking transactions online. And in healthcare, with this explosion of wearable health devices, there is a tremendous opportunity to use digital technologies to keep people well for longer periods of time.
The world in general and businesses specifically are becoming more technology intensive. Our role is to help clients understand that complexity, demystify that complexity, and help make technology accessible to them. That’s what we do best.”
