Cognizant Outreach UK has won the Digital Leaders 2021 People’s Choice Digital Impact Award for Cognizant Assist – Connecting Volunteers for Good.
Presented during Digital Leaders Week as part of the Impact Conference 2021 in June, the People’s Choice Award recognizes the most popular of Digital Leaders’ 36 tech-for-good Impact Award finalists, celebrating the technological innovations that have a direct impact on improving people’s lives and helping the planet.
Cognizant Assist – Connecting Volunteers for Good is a user-friendly, resilient and scalable community volunteering platform and mobile app that was originally developed to support, reach and build resilience within the local community in the UK, including supporting relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. The user-friendly mobile app links non-profit organizations and volunteers, and assigns tasks requested by vulnerable people and families in the community.
Developed and implemented free of charge by Cognizant Outreach volunteers, the open-source, cloud-based mobile app is configurable and accessible, making it easy for organizations to recruit and manage volunteers to help with services such as locating and driving people to COVID-19 vaccination sites, pharmacy and grocery deliveries, providing students with books and devices for education and more. The app is now in use by nine non-profit organizations in the UK, US and India.
“Cognizant Assist – Connecting Volunteers for Good aligns with our commitment to society and our purpose to engineer modern businesses to improve everyday life,” said Rob Walker, Managing Director, Cognizant UK and Ireland. “We are honored to receive this award, and we are proud, knowing that our Outreach team started with a problem to be solved and used technology to engineer a solution.”
