As part of its ongoing commitment to co-innovation the field of Industry 4.0 and its future-forward impact in manufacturing environments, Cognizant has joined the Open Manufacturing Platform (OMP).

Founded in 2019, the OMP is an alliance focused on helping manufacturing companies accelerate innovation at scale by bringing together digital innovators through cross-industry collaboration, knowledge and data sharing as well as access to new technology applications.

Current areas of focus for OMP include IoT Connectivity, Semantic Data Structuring, Manufacturing Reference Architecture, and Core Services for Autonomous Transport Systems. Through the open collaboration approach, manufacturing companies can bring offerings to market faster, with increased scale and greater efficiency. Solutions are published and shared across the community, regardless of technology, solution provider or cloud platform.

“Industry 4.0 is ushering in a new era of greater insight and agility with the platforms needed to connect people and processes across the manufacturing value chain,” said Randal Kenworthy, VP of Cognizant IoT and Engineering Services. “We are proud to join a community of digital technology pioneers to help manufacturers modernize their operations, by breaking down siloed systems and data in order to run operations more efficiently while providing a safer work environment. Joining forces with OMP’s engineering groups, we look forward to defining leading practices and reference models to help manufacturers rapidly develop and deploy Industry 4.0 solution at scale.”
