LiveMint, India: 75K of Cognizant’s 100K Women Employees are Based in India

“IT services major Cognizant on Tuesday announced that the number of women employees in the company globally has crossed the 100,000-mark, nearly 75,000 of whom are in India. Recently, CEO Brian Humphries said in a note to employees that the company has hit the 2 lakh employee-mark in India.

Nearly 38% of Cognizant’s India headcount today consists of women professionals. In tier-two locations such as Coimbatore, Kochi and Mangalore, the proportion of women employees is approaching 50%.

Cognizant said that 40% of their total new hires so far this year are women. Advancing diversity in its leadership pipeline, more than 400 women employees will graduate by year end from ‘Propel,’ the women’s global leadership development program launched in 2018.”
