Cognizant in the News

The Times of India: Cognizant’s AVP, Center for the Future of Work, APAC, Discusses New Jobs That Will Emerge from AI

“Take the case of a self-driving car killing a pedestrian. Who would you hold responsible – the car maker, software developer, insurance provider?” asks Manish Bahl. “Machines are becoming smarter and we need clarity on how we could build machine-human trust.” Excerpts:

“Machines are, indeed, taking away many routine jobs, but technology is also helping create many new kinds of jobs. Among those that could emerge in the coming times are the machine risk officer, who will manage the potential risks that may occur if intelligent machines fail, and the juvenile cybercrime rehabilitation counsellor, who will work closely with young cyber offenders to rehabilitate and introduce them to ethical cyber use.

These are among 21 jobs that Cognizant has identified as those that are likely to emerge soon. These follow another 21 the company’s Centre for the Future of Work (cFOW) identified a year ago. Cognizant said the success of the first persuaded it to come out with this second report.

Manish Bahl said the jobs that he and his team have described emerged from studying and analysing economic, political, demographic, societal, cultural, business and technology trends, and then drawing implications from them. The study is positioned as ‘a guide to getting and staying employed through 2029.’”
