Cognizant Achieves CVO Certification from NCQA

Cognizant was recently fully certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Credentials Verification Organization (CVO) for 11 out of 11 verification services.

NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of managed care plans, managed behavioral healthcare organizations, preferred provider organizations, new health plans, physician organizations, credentials verification organizations, disease management programs and other health-related programs.

CVO Certification is a voluntary review process that includes rigorous onsite and offsite evaluations conducted by a team of healthcare professionals. Healthcare provider credentialing allows insurance organizations to identify qualified healthcare practitioners for participation in their networks, which protects patients and minimizes legal risks for health plans.

Cognizant achieved a score of 100% across all critical CVO verification elements during the certification process. The services are:

  1. Application and Attestation Content
  2. Application and Attestation Processing
  3. Drug Enforcement Agency
  4. Education and Training
  5. Malpractice Claims History
  6. Medical Board Sanctions
  7. Medicare/Medicaid Sanctions
  8. Ongoing Monitoring of Sanctions
  9. Verification of Board Certification Status
  10. Verification of Licensure
  11. Work History

“Achieving CVO certification from NCQA demonstrates that Cognizant has the systems, process, and personnel in place to thoroughly and accurately verify providers' credentials and help health plan clients meet their accreditation goals, said Margaret E. O’Kane, President, NCQA.

“This certification further strengthens our commitment to collaborating with healthcare organizations to improve levels of care while reducing costs,” said Brent Barber, Vice President, Cognizant Healthcare Digital Operations. “We are pleased to have achieved a score of 100% across all 11 CVO verification elements.
