Mint: Cognizant CFO Discusses the Strategies of Retaining Talent and the Company’s Views on Competition

“We spend a lot of time thinking about how do we hire and retain talent, and how do we onboard people and make them successful,” says Karen McLoughlin. “We have a lot of employee-friendly programs to help employees be successful in the organization, including training and development. Most importantly, because of the high growth rate that we have had, we have been fortunate to promote a lot of people very quickly in the organization, which has led to better opportunities for them.”

When asked how Cognizant views the competition, McLoughlin says, “We have never chased revenue and competition per se. We have learnt a lot from our peers. All companies in our space in tier one have very strong management teams. But we have really stayed focused on being true to ourselves and that’s about how do we develop business partnership relationships with our customers.”
