The Business Times, Singapore: Cognizant’s APAC Head Says Automation Will Make Smart Humans Smarter

“With rote, repetitive processes becoming digital, instrumented, analyzed and intelligent, uniquely human analytical, strategy and leadership skills will become even more central,” says Jayajyoti Sengupta about how automation and the rise of the gig economy will change the nature of work.

“As a fundamental enabler,” he adds, “automation won’t supplant knowledge labor as much as work in tandem to make smart humans smarter, elevating their roles and empowering them to raise the bar of performance and innovation. People will be challenged to acquire new skills and adjust to rapid changes in core job skillsets.

He says, “Work will be about thinking, problem-solving, and delivering in smarter, more creative and productive ways, and developing a mind-set informed by collaboration and a rethinking of the man-machine relationship.”
