Bergen Record: Cognizant’s President Talks About the Changing Demand Environment

“We saw very healthy growth,” Gordon Coburn says about Cognizant’s industry-leading performance in the September-ended quarter of 2013. “We’re seeing clients face a dual mandate: they have to be more efficient in how they run their core operations, while at the same time, they have to invest in innovation and grow the top line.”

Coburn adds that companies’ desire to keep up with mobile technology and data analysis, among other growing technologies, has led to more spending. “Our clients are changing how they interact with their own employees and their customers,” he says.

Coburn says he is encouraged that the proposed immigration legislation in the U.S. would streamline the green card process. “We care deeply about fixing the immigration process. There are not enough U.S. tech workers,” he notes. Immigration reform, he says, would allow the U.S. to “attract and keep some of the best and the brightest people in the world.”
