Cognizant Expands Central European Presence With New Centre in Switzerland’s “Crypto Valley”

Cognizant has announced the expansion of its Swiss and European operations with the opening of a new delivery and operations centre in the Canton of Zug, the heart of Switzerland’s “Crypto Valley”. The region is becoming one of the world’s major blockchain and cryptographic technology ecosystems, attracting a vibrant start-up community. The new centre will support increasing regional demand for industry-specific technology solutions and localized client support, especially in the banking, insurance, pharma and biotech sectors. Cognizant’s presence in Baar will increase resources and augment expertise for existing and growing Swiss and European client base, operating in local languages and time zones.

Being based in “Crypto Valley” will allow Cognizant to interact easily with the area’s community of IT start-ups that are focused on advancing artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, smart analytics, and blockchain. Combined with Cognizant’s deep set of digital offerings and industry expertise, these local resources complement Cognizant’s value to clients as they innovate and implement at-scale enterprise solutions based on these digital technologies.

Expanding its existing employee base in Switzerland and established operations centre in Zurich, Cognizant is hiring a mix of experienced professionals and students from local educational institutions in the Canton of Zug region, such as the University of Lucerne, to staff the new centre in Baar.

“We welcome the arrival of a rapidly-growing, global company like Cognizant to Baar and are confident that the company will provide high-quality jobs,” said Dr. Matthias Michel, Minister of the Department of Economic Affairs and Member of the Government of Canton of Zug. “The Canton’s  growing technology influence, particularly in fintech, biotech and digital technology overall, will enable Cognizant to drive high levels of innovation for clients locally, regionally, and more broadly around the world.”

“Having worked for a number of clients located in or near Zurich over the past few years, and with rising demand from clients elsewhere in the country, it is an ideal time for Cognizant to extend its operations in Switzerland. Baar is a logical choice, given its emergence as a digital hub,” said Stefan Metzger, Country Managing Director for Switzerland at Cognizant. “Being part of this enterprise IT ecosystem places us alongside  a growing client base, and allows us to more broadly share our global knowledge and expertise across the region. As a certified Top Employer in Switzerland as well as in six other countries across Europe, this expansion provides an opportunity to further extend our rich talent base, offering our clients strong, local delivery management combined with robust global service delivery capabilities.”
