Cognizant in the News

NZZ, Switzerland: Cognizant’s Country Manager for Switzerland Says the Company’s Goal is to Become as Big as Possible in Baar

“The company now occupies two floors in an industrial building in Baar. Since last week, around 40 Cognizant employees have been there,” says Stefan Metzger. “The location was chosen deliberately to fit in with the local business ecosystem of the Baar / Zug region, which is marketed as the ‘Crypto Valley’.” Excerpts:

“Apart from basic services, a sales team for financial and insurance clients as well as a team that accompanies international projects are located there.

Many start-up companies have settled there, dealing with new themes around artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain and data analysis.

Cognizant is now looking for proximity to the local universities. It is not only programmers and software engineers Cognizant is looking for, but also project managers, data scientists, IT architects and the like.

Three years ago, Cognizant started to train apprentices. At present, almost 20 young people are completing a four-year apprenticeship as computer scientists or mediamaticians.

Cognizant also maintains close contact with other universities (ZHAW, HWZ) in order to get the right specialists, as the competition for IT professionals is high in the Swiss labor market.

With the new office in Baar, cooperation with the University of Lucerne and local education institutions will be facilitated.”
