The President of Singapore Recognizes Cognizant for its Contribution to the President’s Challenge 2016

On November 23, 2016, Cognizant was recognized by the President of Singapore, Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam for the company’s contribution to the causes supported by the President’s Challenge 2016.

The recognition was received on behalf of Cognizant by Jayajyoti Sengupta, Asia Pacific Head of Cognizant, at President’s Challenge Appreciation Night 2016, a reception held at the Istana to acknowledge and thank 64 individuals and organizations for their efforts in doing their part for the community.

Cognizant was recognized for community volunteering carried out by the company’s employees through the year at the Istana Open Houses as well as for raising funds for the President’s Challenge in support of the President’s 58 charities, all under the aegis of Cognizant Outreach, a novel employee-led program for Cognizant employees to give back to the community.

The President’s Challenge is an annual community outreach and fund-raising campaign for beneficiaries selected every year by the President’s Office. Initiated by former President S R Nathan in 2000, the Challenge represents a coming together of people from all walks of life, under the President’s patronage, to help those who are less fortunate, and is a call to all Singaporeans to do their part to build a more caring and inclusive society.

In his speech, the President said: “This year, we have once again witnessed another successful President’s Challenge where we came together to help the less fortunate…I am heartened by the wide spectrum of individuals and organizations supporting President’s Challenge. This shows how Singaporeans are making a collective effort towards building a cohesive and caring society.”

Since 2000, President’s Challenge has raised more than $167 million for its beneficiaries.
