Newsweek: Cognizant Ranked Among the World’s Top 100 Green Companies of 2015 for Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Impact

Newsweek has ranked Cognizant among the top 100 Green Companies for 2015 in the U.S. as well as globally for corporate sustainability and environmental impact. The Newsweek Green Rankings are one of the world’s most recognized assessments of corporate environmental performance.

Cognizant ranked #55 on the U.S. 500up from #119 in 2014a ranking of the 500 largest publicly-traded companies in the United States by market capitalization, and ranked #93 on the Global 500, which looks at the 500 largest publicly-traded companies globally by market capitalization (as determined by Bloomberg as of March 4, 2015).

In partnership with Corporate Knights Capital, HIP (Human Impact + Profit) Investor Inc., and leading sustainability minds from non-governmental organizations and the academic and accounting communities, Newsweek assessed and measured the environmental performance of the largest publicly-traded companies based on eight key indicators: combined energy productivity, combined greenhouse gas (GHG) productivity, combined water productivity, combined waste productivity, green revenue score, green pay link, sustainability board committee, and audited environmental metrics.

In its efforts to be a responsible steward of the environment—essential to protect the resources needed for the future, better manage climate change risks, and enhance the quality of life for employees, clients and partners—Cognizant has executed strategies to conserve energy and reduce waste through disciplined management practices, improved facilities design, and reengineered business processes.
