Cognizant in the News

Logistikk & Ledelse, Norway: Cognizant’s Senior Client Partner in Norway Talks About the Trends Driving the Supply Chain Planning Market

“The results of Cognizant’s Supply Chain Benchmark Study 2014 show that companies are looking for ways to improve their planning environment and are more than willing to invest in it,” says Fredrik Kallevig. “Rather than a ‘step by step’ approach used in the past, many companies are looking at ‘integrated—connected’ supply chain plans.” Excerpts from the interview:

“An integrated approach provides the right information at the right time that can be used to improve total supply chain performance and enable a platform for collaboration across the supply chain and the business. Ultimately, this equips companies with visibility, flexibility and information that can be used to improve total supply chain performance. So, an integrated planning environment is an imperative today to enable competitive advantage based on a performing supply chain.

According to the Cognizant study, businesses will invest significantly in software for supply chain.

Many companies are not happy with their supply chain planning software. However, they also see great opportunities. 40% believe they need additional modules to achieve good results. 30% say they will invest significantly in new systems over the next 2-3 years.

For Cognizant’s latest supply chain study, more than 300 supply chain professionals were interviewed, including leaders in companies such as Unilever, Intel, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble and Philips Electronics.

With the results of the research, Cognizant has identified five trends that are currently driving the supply chain planning industry.”
