Mobizmag, Norway: Cognizant’s Country Manager for Norway Looks at the Technology Trends for 2015

According to Fredrik Kallevig, the three key technology trends in 2015 are mobile payment, enhanced data models, and BYOA (Bring Your Own Apps). Excerpts:

Mobile payments are coming of age: Even though mobile payments have been around for some time, the technology is poised to be the next major turning point in payments. Mobile payment options are now at the heart of the fast developing hyper-connected world. Apart from an increasingly competitive mobile payments environment, entrants and established players in the space need to continue to pay close attention to emerging payment and mobile commerce-related regulations.

Enhanced data models: Big Data is here to stay. However, security and safety concerns and the potential loss of data mean that companies are increasingly looking for adequate analytics technology able to extract meaning from the large volume of data. In the future, companies will realise that Big Data is not merely a buzzword but a real strategic opportunity with growth potential and begin to adjust to that by creating new business roles such as the Chief Data Officer (CDO).

BYOA (Bring Your Own Apps): Employees will use more and more of their own devices and applications in their day-to-day professional routine. This changes how companies organise their business processes and have to rethink employee engagement such as applications for expenses management or time sheet recordings. Consequently, our industrial era work styles of 9-5 shifts, offices and the associated work patterns will give way to a new way of working. Prescient companies will be able to engage the best brains, wherever they are, whilst outsourcing back-office operations and routine processes into ever simpler and ubiquitous online service providers.

With SMAC (social, mobile, analytics and cloud) now commonplace, considered by companies as normal, staff members routinely work off iPads, with cloud-based software, analytics and social connections. Therefore, flexible, multi-location working and mobility will gather speed.”
