FORTUNE: Cognizant Jumps 86 Places in 2011 in the FORTUNE 500

Cognizant has jumped 86 places in the FORTUNE 500, which was released on May 7, 2012, and is based on revenue for the 2011 fiscal year. The FORTUNE 500 is FORTUNE magazine’s annual ranking of the largest corporations in the United States. With revenue of $6.12 billion in 2011, Cognizant ranks #398, up from #484 in the ranking released in May 2011, when the company debuted on the FORTUNE 500 ranking based on its revenue for the 2010 fiscal year.

Cognizant entered the FORTUNE 1000 ranking in the year 2008 at the 859th position and ascended a whopping 375 places in just three years to make the prestigious FORTUNE 500 ranking at the 484th position.

In February 2012, Cognizant ranked among FORTUNE’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” for the fourth year in a row. In September 2011, Cognizant ranked among FORTUNE’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies for the ninth consecutive year, earning first place on the “All-Stars” list of 16 companies that appear on the list year after year.
